yea the wet filters are always better than an aftermarket dry filter, just dont over oil it, you could buy the s&b that has a wet filter or a desposible type stock looking filter here is a link http://www.sbfilters.com/products/cold_air_intake_kits_filter_typ

yes afe is better there filters are made just for diesels
i wouldnt stack programmers people do it but it cant be good on the tranny.
a exhaust is a good investment with a tuner installed even though it is straight piped it is smaller. afe is a good intake just dont get a dry filter get a oiled one and dont over oil it. if you wont a litte more power than the edge get you a ppe tuner or evi live. but if you get to high a tune you tranny will go into limp mode. and another thing to look in to are some beefed up tie rod sleeves if it is a 4x4.
